    Sony Cybershot DSC-W30 lens won't come out
    When I turn the camera on, the lens remains in the closed position with a message saying, "Turn the power off and on again", and of course this doesn't solve the problem. I've tried taking the battery and memory card out for a few moments and re-inserting them which again didn't work.

    What now? Any ideas?

    I had the same problem, so I took the camera apart and found the problem was dust in the connector from the wheel at the back to the main board. I removed the thin slither of film-like material, wiped it and reconnected it. It worked fine for a week until I dropped it and broke the lens. I am now looking for a lens part. Oh don't touch the black capacitor wires, as small as it is ,it will give you a nasty shock.
