    Water well pressure problems
Our well is almost 3 years old, and 390 feet. For the last few months, I have been having trouble with loss of pressure, or not working at all, so we replaced the pressure switch to find out the pressure tank was bad.

We replaced the tank, still not working, so, we pulled the pump and replaced that. The eletric is fine from house to the well, and will work fine for a day or two, then it starts messing up.

We thought we had a leak, but when we shut off the eletric to the switch, some nights the pressure stays at 50, and some nights it loses that pressure. And it is set at 38psi 50 and sometimes won't shut off, so I need to watch carefully, or the pump will run and pressure will not rise.

We are very frustrated. Please help.

The first thing I would be looking at would be the foot/check valve. It it holds pressure sometimes and loses it at others then the check valve isn't doing its job. Let me know what you find. Good luck, Tom

    1. When you replaced the switch, did you replace or at least inspect the little pipe leading to the switch?
    2. When you lose pressure, are the contact points on the switch closed (touching) or open?
    3. When the pump runs and does not cut off, is the pressure going above the cut off point of 50#?
