Hello,

I am 22 yrs old and I weigh about 130. And I have been having light pink and brownish bleeding for a week today. I do not have another other side effects and I took a pregnancy test last night because I thought I may have been pregnant but it came back negative. There has not been any clotting with the blood expect last night there was one. Other than that the bleeding has not been to heavy but it is consistent throughout the day. My last period was Sept 23rd so I am not due for my period. Along with the bleeding is an odor. I am not on birth control anymore, I stopped the end of August or the very beginning of September. I am really not sure what is going on but I would like som advice before go to my physican.

It's possible the irregular bleeding is due to recently coming off birth control. Some women will experience irregular bleeding as their body adjusts to the change in hormone levels.

Are you trying to become pregnant? While some tests are quite sensitive, with a regular period Sept. 23rd, it would likely be too early yet to have a pregnancy show up. Often you would need to wait until you actually miss a period.

It is not uncommon for there to be some odor when you have some bleeding, but if it causes you concern, it would be wise to see your care provider as there are various reasons for irregular bleeding/odor; some of which may require medical attention.

I am not trying to become pregnant. But I am still having the bleeding this Thursday will be the second week now. The last two days or so, I have been experiencing minor cramp like pain along with the bleeding but this still is not period blood. It is still the brownish and pink bleeding. And today it is heavier than what it has usually been. It varies on days. Yesterday there was almost no bleeding but a brownish spotting. Today it is more heavier and bright pink. My period should be coming up soon because I had it like I said before the weekend of Sep 23rd. Aside from pregnancy, could this possibly be something else I should be worried about?

While some women will have some brownish discharge prior to a period starting, it usually is just before. Since you have now had this going on for about two weeks, I would go and have things checked out. Could be something very minor, such as adjusting to stopping birth control; could be something your gyn would like to check further. When in doubt, have it checked for the peace of mind.
