Heat coming from recessed light in kitchen
I can feel heat on my from the one of the recessed can lights in my kitchen. The ceilings are about 8 feet. The heat is extreme enough that working under it is very uncomfortable. Is this normal? It has a 65w incandescent flood bulb in it. The can is a shallow depth. Any suggestions?

Any chance it might have actually had a heat lamp bulb installed in it?

You could replace those bubls with Compact fluorescent bulbs of the same type. They will put off little heat and consume far less power, and last longer.

I posted a message here several weeks ago about a contractor who simply stapled the Bx cable for recessed lights to the bottom of the joist rather than running it through the joist (1st floor of 2 story home). The electrician has finally agreed to come back after much prodding and redo the work...
