Hi I really need some help! Firstly I would like to say I do go to the hospital about this but my appointment is not for a while yet so I just want some opinions and help! I have poly cystic ovaries and me and my partner are trying for a baby, I'm not underweight or overweight. I come off the pill about 4 months ago after taking it just when I remembered but I didn't go on the pill for contraception, I went on the pill to try and regulate my periods as they were very irregular.I know it doesn't happen over night but I just want some advice as I have never taken the pill properly and I have never got pregnant! Also I would like to add I have cysts on both my ovaries. I also would like to know if there is any over the counter tablets I could take to help me conceive? Please could someone please help, I don't hardly know anything about this only what I have read on the Internet and I think I have convinced myself I CANNOT have a baby! Thank you :)

Okay, first you need to take a deep breath.

PCOS will make it more difficult to have a baby, but not impossible.

You need to work closely with your OB/Gyn on this, though--there is nothing over the counter that is going to help you with this.

Start taking your basal body temperature every single day. Print a chart off the internet to help you track your ovulation.

It takes the AVERAGE couple about a year to conceive, so until you are at that point (birth-control free and actively having sex right before ovulation), there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to panic.

Talk to your OB/Gyn and get a plan in place. Most reputable doctors will not place you on medication for this without trying to correctly conceive WITHOUT medication first.

I know it can be frustrating, but you NEED to make this less stressful on yourself and stop giving yourself deadlines. It's probably not going to happen this month or next, so take a deep breath and do what you CAN do--chart your temperature to determine your ovulation cycle--for the next couple of months.

Relax. It will probably happen, but the more stressed and worried about it you are, the harder and longer it will be.

PS--I know how much hearing "just relax" sucks--It took me 10 years to get pregnant. But it's the truth! Make sure to talk about the emotional side of your treatment with your OB/Gyn as well as the physical stuff. You'd be surprised at how much help there is out there for the mental/emotional side of trying to conceive as well.
