Why has my period become so heavy?
Since about 8 months ago, my period has become so heavy! The bleeding is always a bright red now, as opposed to previously, it started and ended a dark brownish color and was just somewhat red in the middle, with a perfectly manageable flow. This bleeding, however, starts and continues a bright, bright red. It starts very suddenly and ends very suddenly as well. It's like I'm bleeding profusely for about 7 days and then it just stops-it doesn't taper off like it used to. I bleed through a super tampon well within one hour (I have to use both a tampon and pad at all times). During the night, I'll go through a super tampon, an overnight pad and through my clothes and blanket. I don't have too much clotting, usually just in the last couple days. Just this last time, I almost fainted a few times. This can't be normal, it's completely unmanageable! It seems like so much blood to lose. Why might this be happening? I am 33, I take no meds of any kind. The only thing I can tie to this happening is that I terminated a pregnancy, and it's been ever since then that this has happened.

You should go to the doctor if you are very worried about it. I know one thing that regulates periods is the pill, Levlen. The pill isn't just used for birth control, it is used for many other reasons. Right now, I'm using it to shrink a cyst that has formed on my ovary. Levlen is a strong contraceptive pill, commonly used for many things, regulating periods times and flow is one of them. Ask your doctor about it, and also because you're bleeding pretty profusely, buy some iron tablets and take one a day. Anemia is really common is women, because we lose some of the iron in our blood through our period. Once you start getting dizzy, tired spells, crave meats and other high iron foods, you should start trying it. Fainting is another symptom of Anemia. My aunty has really low iron, and she actually craves dirt. SO go to the doctor about your heavy periods and ask their opinion on what the best solution or regulate it a little bit more. Hope that helps!

I'd go see a doctor. ASAP
It can't be good for your body to be losing that much blood.
