    Rights of basement flat owners?
I bought a flat, it was an old hotel and its L shaped, there is nothing in my deeds to say what my responsibilitys are, am in the basement and there are no entrance to the flats on top, so they all have to use main entrance, I don't , I have my own front door and do not use the main entrance , you also cannot get to my flat from the main entrance. There are 7 of us that has our they're own front door and do not use the front door also , the only ones that use it is the 4 flats that is inside the building, the owner of flat 10 has mega problems with her walls and also her roof , her roof does not cover my building also, she has had an estimate of nearly ?30,000 to repair her walls and roof, I say its not responsible for her roof that cover her and I was not going to pay for a repair to a roof that does not cover my flat, am I right?

I'm a little unclear here. You bought a flat in converted hotel. Is this a condominium or cooperative conversion?

One of the owners is claiming the building's roof needs repair. So the homeowner's association or co-op board is assessing the cost against all homeowners? And you feel that you shouldn't have to pay your share?

If that's your question, then it depends on the bylaws covering the building. Most likely you would be responsible for any repairs made to the building, even if they don't directly benefit you.
