    Furnace Decision
I'm looking for some help in making a decision on a new furnace. We are in the process of converting from oil to Natural Gas and we have narrowed our quotes down to 2, the 2 quotes have very different options..

    Option #1 - Large Plumbing outfit $6852.00
    - Goodman GMVC950905DX 2 stage gas furnace (95%)
    - Rinnai 75LSIND Tankless water heater

    Option#2 - Local Plumber $5926.00
    -Tappan G7 furnace w/ condensate pump (97%)
-40 gallon water heater - vented through chimney
(he claims to add a power vented or tankless system I would be looking at an additional 2k)

**Both estimates include disposal of existing furnace, water heater, all duct work, permits etc... they are similar except for the equipment being used

++Do I go with the Goodman and the tankless or with the Tappan, but sacrifice on the water heater? I'm torn here, any advice would be greatly appreciated... I have not been able to find much information concerning the difference in the efficiency of a power vented tank, vs tankless vs conventional vent... And I haven't been able to find much on the Tappan brand...

Sounds like to me you need to get that 3rd estimate. Be sure and check the warranty on each system. Codes change from city to city. Make sure every one is on the same page.

I rec'd 4, these are the 2 I narrowed it down with... the other were for American Standard and a Lennox 93% and the costs were in far excess of 1k-3k!
