    Steps for signing over rights
    The father of my children agreed to sign over parental rights but I don't know the legal steps to take, can you please help?

    1. Get a lawyer.
    2. Have a court date set up.
    3. Have adoption papers for your husband to adopt ready to go.
    4. The biological father relinquishes parental rights in court at the same time the adoption papers are filed in court.

    If you are NOT married, and do NOT have a step-parent ready to adopt, then the biological father CAN NOT relinquish parental rights.
