Can I get in trouble for calling a restaurant ordering for and not picking it up?

Possibly. I guess it depends on the extent of the pranking. If you called in a burger and didn't get it, they'd probably be annoyed but not really think much of it. Calling in 8 special orders with extra appetizers and desserts would definitely have their attention, and if they have your phone number they might try to track you down. I'm sure they could even go to the extent of having phone records pulled if they felt like pressing charges for mischief, or ban you from the restaurant.

The question is not so much would you get in trouble, but why would you really want to do this? People have to cook that food while working out the rest of their shift for actual paying customers, the restaurant loses money, food is wasted because it will probably be thrown out, and whoever took the order might miss out on tips, or (if their boss is hardcore) may have to pay for the meal out of their pocket.

Seriously, be considerate. What would you really get out of doing it?

I am doing this because I got fired because this girl who works there didn't like me and worked there longer then I did and was making stuff up about me. They also don't make you fill out proper paperwork when you get hired.. Is there any way I can get them for this? And they don't have my number or know it was me.

Try moving on with your life instead of trying to get revenge. Most restaurants nowadays use caller ID. If you block them, they won't fill the order. If you don't they will go after you for theft.

I honestly think you got fired because of your own doing? Not everything is everybody else s fault.

It is not prank calling when your calling because you want revenge. It just turned into something serious.

Some restaurants will not even accept phone calls from unidentified numbers or blocked numbers.

I think you honestly need to grow up. You have lots of issues. Anger is one of them. Let it go and move on.

Hmmm. Okay, I still am not a fan of pranking them, but I can at least understand your frustration over something like that. Been there, done that, yeah? And co-workers and managers can be vicious in the restaurant world. Stiiillll... not very nice. :P

Anyway, what kind of place is this--like a little Mom & Pop diner, or a big chain? I'll cross my fingers that you worked in something seen all over the place. They would be pretty much guaranteed to have a website where you could find a number for Human Resources somewhere up the corporate chain, and complain about the management firing you. In either type of restaurant, you could probably go to your state's website (assuming this is the Chico I think it is, placing you in the US) to the Department of Labor and inquire whether you have a case of fraudulent hiring paperwork, and unjustified firing. Good luck!

PS - it really IS only possibly worth your time if you were unjustly fired. If their reasons were sound and nothing's wrong with their hiring methods, you really haven't gained anything.

They can sue you for any money loss in food that is fixed. They will have a copy of your phone record.

This is childish and will also ruin any chance of any job reference and once the new places you are trying to get jobs at here about this, they would never hire you.

Next depending on the job, there is no requirement for applications
