    Math help please?
    Dan's Deli sells ham for $4.89 per pound and cheese spread for $2.49 per pound. Savory Spread made of the cheese spread mixed with ham sells for $3.39 per pound. How many ounces of ham should be in each pound of Savory Spread? (must show all work) <3 thank you for the help!

    But here's a hint:

    Let's call x and y the amount of ham and cheese, respectively, in one pound of savory spread. That's two different unknowns, so you'll need two equations to be able to solve them. One of the equations is easy; the ham plus the cheese must be one pound, so x+y=1. The other equation says that the value of the ham (i.e. 4.89x) plus the value of the cheese (i.e. 2.49y) must come out to $3.39. So solve those two equations for x, and you'll have the amount of ham in each pound of savory spread. Keep in mind, however, that your answer will be in pounds. The question asked about ounces, so you'll need to multiply it by 16 to convert to ounces.
