Water not coming out of holes in toilet?
I recently repaired all of the "guts" of my toilet with a fluidmaster kit due to a slow leak. The toilet and insides were a good 15 years old, so I decided to fix the entire thing instead of just the flapper. The toilet now works as it should, except the rim holes in the toilet no longer discharge water upon flushing. It looks as though the overflow tube backs up when flushed (i.e. A small amount of water comes back up the tube when flushed) however it takes all of the water from the fill tube when the toilet is flushed. The toilet drains water and refills through the discharge hole in the bottom of the bowl, but the sides don't get rinsed. Confused! Please help.

The rim holes in the bowl are what starts the swirling action, The fact that water backs up in the overflow tube tells me that something's got into your bowl preventing the discharge from entering the bowl so it backs up into the tube. What was in the tank that got down into the rim?
You can try to clear the rim holes with a coathanger but if that doesn't work you may have to pull the tank and take a look. Good luck, b Tom

I just got a callback from a customer who told me the "toilet you installeed doesn't flush right." Flushed the toilet, flapper went up but drained slowly. Lifted the flapper and found a 2" bleach tablet in the main tank drain. Did you look under the flapper? Sounds like something is trapped in there.

Yes, there is nothing under the flapper. I think I will take speedball1's advice and take the tank off again.

Did you attempt to clear the holes with a coathanger? Any luck? After you get the tank off poke around for anything that might have fell through the flush valve into the opening, A piece of plastic or cardboard, Put a hook on a coathanger and see if you can snag anything back. Good luck, Tom
