    Breaking a lease
If I where to break my lease early what would I be liable for? I live in Florida I have a year lease I have been there for 6 months If I was to leave 5 months early Am I still responsible for the 5 months rent left on the lease or would it only be a month or would I just lose my security deposit.
    Thank you for your help

Does your lease say anything about early termination? If it doesn't mention it then you would be responsible for the rent until the earlier of: (1) the property is re-rented; or (2) the end of your original lease term.

Also, in Florida the landlord does not have an obligation to try to find a new tenant. They can sit back and just continue to collect the rent from you until the end of your lease term.

Your best bet is to speak with the landlord and see if you can work something out. They may allow you to find a new tenant to take over the balance of your lease or they may allow you out of the lease in return for a payment of one or two months rent.
