Is Sleep Apnea covered by DDA?
    Hi,

I'm lost and confused with my health and where I stand with my employer.

Long story short... My concentration is very poor and I never feel refreshed when I wake up.

Been for a sleep study and it came back that I have Mild Sleep Apnoea however, the consultant wants to do more tests which is going to take time and hasn't offered a treatment option.

Does my employer have to find something alternative for me? My pay is going to stop soon so I'm getting pretty desperate.

By 'DDA' do you mean the 'Americans with Disabilities Act'?

And, are you asking if you can be on medical leave until the situation is corrected to avoid getting in trouble with work?

P.S. the resolution, usually is called a CPAP, (continuous positive air pressure) machine, or a BIPAP, (bi-level positive air pressure) machine. Sometimes surgery of the throat can alleviate some cases as well.

Sorry, I'm from the UK so you may not be able to help.

CPAP works a little differently here in the UK Mild Apnea is not always offered in the UK for "mild" and has not been offered to me :( My consultant feels it could be something else and has ordered more tests... which again in the UK mean I have to wait until next year

Ah, sorry about that, I thought you were in the US. Perhaps someone versed in the UK healthcare system can add their knowledge.
