    Was my hippa violated
I got into a heated disagreement with a MA at a doctors office on how she was trying to draw my blood. After the MA left the room she went to the front desk and told her other employees what happen as well as the other patients what happen... When I compalin to the dr and told him what happen he didn't do anything or say nothing to the MA but told me she don't suppose to do anything like that. Im wonder did this MA violated my hippa ?

No actual medical information as shared by the MA - just the fact you had problems with her taking your blood. How could someone be taking your blood wrong? I can't have my blood taken from my arm but only from the veins on the back of my hand and I readily tell the person doing this procedure of my tiny veins and they usually listen to me to make their job easier.

Did the MA name you by name, or just that the patient was having trouble ?

Next sorry, did they try and fail to draw the blood or where you trying to tell them how to do their job before they started.

Its HIPAA and no your rights were not violated. If you don't care for how this was handled you can simply go elsewhere but don't bother thinking for even a moment of filing a complaint with Health and Human Services. Read up Health Information Privacy

Ok! Maybe I should've got in more detail with my question. I'm a phlembotomist I've been drawing blood for 12 yrs. The MA prep my skin with alcohol then wipe it off with a gauze then put her finger on the site where she was going to draw my blood at. Me as a phlembotomist know that you don't suppose to do that u have contaminated the skin

It's still not a HIPAA violation. What you experienced would be an infection control issue.

As a phlebotomist you should know what HIPAA is. No one gave your health information to a third party without your permission. That is part and parcel what HIPAA is.
