    I think I am a compulsive liar
    Hello, my name is Aaron, and I think I may be a compulsive liar. I lie about little things, and I'm not sure why.

    My partner is getting fed up with me. What do I do and how do I go about it.
    It's kind of annoying that I do it not even knowing I'm doing it.

    I lie about things so simple. (example);

    I signed up for an online game. I told her I was singing up to a hunters forum for advice on how to improve my character. But I actually signed up to join my character into a guild nothing to do with improving my character.

    I lie about how I use my money even though I know she won't care. I've lied for as long as I can remember since I was very young. Any help would be appriciated I feel like I can't or won't stop :-(

    You are at the first step of any such mental health or behavioral issue - realizing you have a problem.

    The first thing I would consider personally would be to sit down and talk to those closest to me and tell them what you posted here. Tell them how often, how long, etc. Tell them you are informing them because you really care about them and you are going to get help.

    The path, I believe, to managing and finding out what is behind the need to act this way is through cognitive therapy. If you do not have access to health insurance or a mental health benefit, there are usually services which will charge on a sliding scale based on your income.

    I would find a competent psychologist and let him/her make those determinations.

    Good luck.
