My wife's identity mistaken for a bad check writer.
We recently found out while trying to open a new bank account that my wife was flagged on the national bad check system and it is reporting a bad check written in Nevada for $429.00.

The check writer's name was on the check, but my wife's social security number was written on the check. The bank won't release any info on it other then its my wife's social security number.

This was clearly a mistake by whomever took the information. How do I find out who put this in or get the bank to release this so we can clear this up.

We have also contacted the social security and the commission board no help, We live in Indiana and the event happened in Nevada

You need to find out the service the bank uses to check for NSF activity. That service will have a process to follow to dispute the information.

I had the same thing happen to me, although it was the reverse. It was my name perfectly, but there was no social security. I called the verification company and had to prove I couldn't have been in San Diego to have written the check.

Since I had just arrived in California, it wasn't too difficult to prove.
