    R 22 coil GMP 100-4 furnace?
I have an older system GMP100-4 serial # 9508802550. The repair man says I need new R 22 evaporator coils. However he states nobody makes them anymore and instead I need to buy a new system that would cost me $4500. Does anybody know where I might be able to get a hold of these? Thank you in advance.

They did indeed stop making r-22 equiptment as of 2010 as required by law. However, there are still plenty out there, just need to find the right supplier. From what I hear, many installing companys have switched over completely to 410a, and won't install any 22 units, even though they are still available for now. Maybe try a different company and see what they have to say.

Finding a new one may be hard. However, many AC service companies can find a good one in their shop. I just replaced a bad F-22 coil with a used one, $200. Works great.

Heck, we can even still get new R 22 condensers, but they now come uncharged. They only have a precharge of nitrogen/helium, just like the evap coils. Not sure what the deal is with that, but Im assuming its some sort of loophole around the non manufacturing law of 2010. Ill look further into this. That being said, many of the new coils we get are labeled for use with r22 or r410a. Just need the correct piston(orifice) or txv valve to match the system refrigerant. R-22 is by no means dead and gone. They will still make the actuall r22 refrigerant until 2020, but the price has already almost trippled in areas. It basically going the way of R-12. Parts and refrigerants will be around for a while, but the price will go through the roof as supply dwindles.

Ok. I can turn the thermostat to 72 and it will stay on 64 with the fan blowing constant. Burners aren't firing. Thinking of buying a power inverter to install on a vehicle to use for back up power to run my GMP 100 furnace during power outages. Will a modified sine wave inverter work OK and not damage the circuitry or do I need a pure sine wave? Also how many watts does the furnace draw?
