Can anyone save me some money for this simple fix? The dog chewed the wires from my a/c unit outside. There is a white, green, and red wire that are disconnected. There are two yellow wires that come off the contactor. Neither of these are connected to anything. Which wires do I reconnect? See wiring diagram and picture.

If he chewed the wires while it was on Cool, he may have shorted the transformer/fuse?
Does inside blower work or any response from Thermostat. If not, 24 volt transformer fuse in air handler needs to be replaced. Cap the ends of the wires first, while in there, you may see what colors are being used and which is capped, if any.
If only 2 wires are used, then set unit to cool, and see which of the 2 wires have 24 volts AC, then Turn Off inside unit so you don't blow a fuse again make connections, doesn't matter which. Turn unit back on.

I always pull control wires with supply so they are protected in conduit. Not All Electricians/AC Guys do this.

The control wires connect to the yellows in the little compartment.

I agree with Strat. My guess would be that the red and white hooked to the yellows, but best to look in the furnace inside and see which wire was not used. Now, of the two wires that are hooked up inside (should hook to y and c terminal). Just hook one wire to one yellow outside, and the other wire to the other yellow (doesnt matter which goes where).

I think it was the evil cat next door but something chewed my unit at the early part of the summer, on my unit on the inside there was a inline fuse that blew. Things to look for.

Thanks guys... I was able to repair it. Replaced the fuse in the panel in the attic and saw that the green was unused. Bought some replacement cable, cut off the chewed portion, and spliced in a new piece. Connected the red/white to the yellows on the contactor and replaced the insulation.
