RO starts with good pressure, gradually gets low
Just replaced all 3 filters. Now a few weeks later, pressure starts good, but within 2 minutes there is none. All lines are unkinked. Not sure how to proceed.

I've only installed a few Reverse Osmoses units but as best I can remember, while they did process the water it was always slow with no pressure. When I asked about this I was told that the filters were what slowed the volume and pressure down, Of course that was 20 years ago but common sense tells me that the better filters the slower the action. Yours doesn't sound like it's filtering as much as it ought to. Any other experts, feel free to jump in. Regards, Tom

It looks like one of your filters and/or diaphragm needs to be replaced.

Can filters be bad? Its as if I never replaced them. The h2o pressure goes from full to zero in about 20 seconds. Suggestion is to replace filters A and C again?

That means that there is either:

    1. a kink in one of the many 1/4" tubes
    2. something hooked up backwards
    3. closed valve

Check your installation. Filters are the last thing I would go after. Looks like something is installed backwards.

Now, keep in mind that RO takes at least 24 hours to recharge, meaning you won't get any - or too much - water first 24 hours. Wait full day and see if the flow improves.

Question: what brand of RO do you have ?

    Back to you... Milo

    There are no kinks

The brand is a Everpure ROM III

My next step is to take all 3 filters off and re-install them.

    Hey Adam

Do you have the installation/troubleshooting guide? If not, it is available here online @

    http://www.aquahealthsystems.com/_im...IOGuideROM.pdf

Check out the troubleshooting guide near the bottom of the pages. It sounds like you could have a defective CHECK VALVE here... maybe? Make to sure to check water flow into the unit as well... could be a clogged/malfunctioning shutoff supplying the water to the RO system, too!

Don't forget that if you get real frustrated with this you can always call technical services at everpure filters @ 800.323.7873

    Good luck!

Mark - its been 12 hours since I re-installed filters A and C and it's the same, good pressure for 15 seconds, then it goes down to nothing. Thanks for the info, I will try the check valve and then call the tech people.

Don't forget to check the water pressure into the RO unit... the main shutoff to the unit could have failed to open all the way. Here, disconnect the main water supply line to the RO unit and test by pulsing the water supply tube into a bucket. If water pressure is great then it's back to the RO system.

I just want to be sure this is ruled out before continuing to blame the RO system... ;)

It is a high end RO system you have. It has very fine filters that eventually get clogged. More they get clogged (dirty) - more they inhibit water flow...

Just want to make sure: That Storage Tank has its own valve too. It is 90 degree valve. Sometimes people get confused which way is Open and which way it is Closed. Make sure it is all the way in Open position.

The water trickling to nothing is sing that there is some minimal flow to the unit.

Question: did you do ANYTHING else with the unit - besides unscrewed the old filters and screwed new ones in ?

Do as Mark said... and let us know how you did... Milo

Does it look like this ?
