How can I easily edit mp3 file info in Windows XP?
Some of my mp3s do not have the correct artist name or song name.

It's a pain to right click on them one at a time then go to properties > Summary > Advanced.

... so is there a way to display all of the info on a screen so that I can glance at all the files and their details, and just click on the fields of various files to quickly edit them?

    Thanks!

There's a lot of tools for this. My personal favourite is MusicBee.

MusicBee - Music Manager and Player

You can look up the tags based on album, or you can have it analyze the song itself and try to match it up, etc. Plus it can organize your music based on these tags. It will even tag the genres from the last.fm tag cloud. The program is pretty customizable. You can turn off or on just about any of the features in it.

If it's more than what you are looking for you could check out MusicBrainz.
    MusicBrainz Picard - MusicBrainz

All it does is tag the music files.

    FYI, I tried Mp3tag first.

After downloading the .exe file I double clicked on it and got

    Installer Error:
    Unable to initialize installer GUI.

... so I'll try MusicBee next.

That's too bad - I used it to make perfect tags and album covers when I bought my wife an mp3 player and loaded it with her music.

Fooey on me and my computer. I just tried the other one and got the same error message.

... so I'm off to googling a solution for the "Unable to initialize installer GUI" Error :(

Can't you highlight them all then right click and select properties and change them all that way?

You could, but if he can get one of these programs to work it'll make things a ton easier. They'll basically look the information up for him.

That would change the file properties but not the mp3 tags.

I'm not sure in Windows XP, but I know in Windows 7 and Vista you can edit the tag of the MP3 in the details tab of the file properties.
