Shutting off your water is the cheapest insurance you'll ever buy! If you ever come back to a pressure leak that has leaked for months count in losing thousands. Is short, shut the water off.
Now how about the rest of the house? You're not going to be using hot water so turn off the water heater at the breaker box. N Since you wi;; be away into November will it freeze in your area? Do you need instructions on how to winterize your home? Let me know. Tom

I always turn off the water to my house when I'm going to be away for a weekend or more. I've heard too many horror stories about leaking hot water tanks or a burst hose to a washing machine. And depending where you live and how cold it gets while you're away it would avoid the risk of a pipe freezing and bursting.

    Hello Kochar,

As Tom have stated it is always good idea to shut off the water to the house but please respond to his questions then we will know and tell you exactly what needs to be done, also I would like to share one of my own experience that what happened to me a few years ago, I forgot to turn off the INSTANT HOT WATER RECIRCULATING PUMP When we returned found the pump was burned, cost me extra bucks, Good luck.

Where, exactly, do you live? To give you instructions on winterizing your home I would have to know how cold it's going to get and if you plan on heating the house or will the heat be shut off. There's lots to do if you're going to leave the heat off. As for the sprinkler system, how deep are the pipes burred and how deep is your frost line? Back to you, Tom

You need to fully explain the situation. Initially you said 3 months in the fall and now we are talking about fully winterizing. Where you live, will there be any heat on during the closure as well as city water or well would help.
