Strange Electric Outlet and Alarm Clock Radio Problem
Having a strange problem and trying to figure out what the cause is. I've recently moved into an apartment and in one of the bedrooms I can't get the clock radio alarm to go off. I've tried every single outlet in this room and it will not work. What is weird is that things will come on and work in each of the outlets. But when it comes to the alarm sounding, it simply won't sound. The clock part and turning on radio on etc are fine, it's just when the alarm should go off no sound! When it should go off you can hear like a little clicking sound for split second, but nothing else. I've tried in in the other bedroom and will work on the bottom plug of a switched outlet in there. What could the problem be? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I used to work for an electrician and I think I remember him telling me a story that was similar. If I'm right the problem was that the outlets produced different watts of electricity which should be checked if that is the case. I hope that helps! Though I may be wrong its worth looking into I think!

Outlets don't produce watts, they produce volts. Watts are the power the device plugged into the receptacle uses. Don't believe it's an outlet issue, the radio works and the alarm is part of that circuit. Probably a bad alarm circuit in the radio.

Have the voltage checked at the receptacle the clock will not work properly at.

There may be a lower than normal voltage that would indicate a loose or poor connection.

Since this is an apartment, the landlord needs to hire an electrician.

If the clock and radio work but not the alarm the unit itself is malfunctioning. Try it in other apartments and places, likely it still just will not work, time for a new one
