No sound on Sony rear projection TV
I have an older Sony rear projection TV that had been working fine. The sound started to delay when the TV was turned on. The sound was fine last night, but now turned on and no sound at all. Is it fixable and about what would it cost to fix?

First check the connections to make sure they are secure. Also try different sources. Try a DVD player to see if you get sound from that. Don't assume it's your TV.

Also, please provide the model number of the TV.

My TV is connected to Dishnet. I did troubleshooting in the beginning and tried using just a dvd and no sound. The dish receiver is now disconnected and I turned on TV by itself and still no buzz or sound at all. The model number is KP-41T15.

Double check that there isn't a setting in the TV to disable the built-in speakers. There is usually an option that will turn on/off an internal mute or something along those lines.

If that is fine, then it could be any number of parts on the TV and without seeing it I cannot help you diagnose it. You'll be looking at $150-200 USD just for an in-home diagnosis. From there you might be looking at additional for parts and a return trip.

My suggestion is to invest the money you would spend repairing it into a new TV. Even if you fix this issue, with a TV this old, you have no idea what will go next.

Thank you. This TV does not owe me a penny. I owe it. In the meantime, I purchased a LED flatscreen TV. Thanks again.

I have a GE rear projection TV that doesn't work. I have 2 differing opinions. One is that this 10 year old unit (repaired) will last longer than what is being sold now. The other is that this unit is dead and not worth attempting any repair. Both opinions from professionals. Does anyone out...
