I have a severe throat infection and have been on antibiotics since Sunday evening. The pain feels a lot better, however, it is sort of difficult to breath as it appears to have moved down towards the bottom of my throat. Anything I can do to reduce the swelling instead of going to the dr?

    Call the doctor, at least.
Gargle every 30 minutes with warm salt water.
Drink tons of fluids for any infection.
Look in the mirror for any changes in the appearance of what you can see in your throat.
