    Child Support Lien
I am owed 60,500.00 in back child support. The non custodial father recently came into a inheritance of 150,000 and refuses to pay off any of his back pay. The AG is in the process of putting a lien on his bank accts. Will or can he be notified of a freeze is put on his accts? Or is there a difference btwn a lien and a freeze? Can you explain to me how this actually works? The AG is giving me no information other then to be patient. It's been 2 months and the non custodial parent has been splurging and not sure if there is a lien on his acct yet. Also, I've been told that 100k of the money were put in CD's in his bank.

I don't know what you mean by "how are they handled?"

    Can Texas freeze/lien accounts? Yes.

Is this pursuant to a Court Order, something else?

Again - what part of the procedure are you questioning?

EDIT: I realize you have already asked the question with many more details. https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/family...en-590929.html No one should answer unless they know. We are all volunteers and need some time to get to all of the questions.

Please do not start new threads, esp if they contain less info, if you wish to ad more info please answer your own question to do so.

Terms, really depends on who is using them, since many terms have liberal meanins

The will get a court order to garnish his bank account, This is most likely the term lien, but garnish is a more normal term used, normally he will not be notified of this.

They then freeze the bank account, this allow him time to contest it and ask for a court hearing. After a number of days allowed in the order, if he does not protest or fight in court ( or if he fights in court and looses) the funds are taken by the court order.
