Reasons to break a lease in pa?
When I was looking at my apartment, I told the girl showing the apartment, that I was looking for a place with "convient trash" and laundry facilities. She told me the building had a trash chute and laundry in the basement. I was thrilled. Especially for the trash chute. I told her that was the reason I was taking the apartment. Well, less than a month after I moved in, they closed up the trash chute. I asked if they were going to fix it or were they open to suggestions to keep the trash "convient". They said no. My question is: can I break my lease because the landlord closed up the trash chute and didn't disclose to me his plans to do so before I moved in? They have had that trash chute for decades. I think they knew when I signed the lease that they had plans to get rid of it. I would never have taken the apartment if I had known that.
    Please help...

No... you can still carry your trash out like everyone else does. That doesn't violate any habitability standards.

The 'girl showing the apartment' may have had no clue what the owner's plans were. If it wasn't written in the lease, and if it wasn't something vital to your health and safety, then you won't have a case. You could tell them you aren't happy about it and want to move and try to negotiate a shorter term.

I have to lug my trash a long way - miles. I live in the country and we all have to go to a dump. So I've perfected the art of flattening everything within an inch of it's life, composting, and recycling.
