Status violator driving privilege card in Utah
I am working at the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake City. I am dealing with a man that has to renew his driving privilege card. To do this he has to provide his finger prints and since he is a status violator he is afraid he'll be deported. What should I tell him?

Tell him to leave on his own... he stands a better chance to get legal status in the future than he will with a deportation on his record.

As states enfore what the federal gov't won't, this is going to become an increasing occurrence. I just had a friend, from Brasil, who I thought was a legal immigrant, try to renew his DL, in GA. He was refused because of his illegality and decided to go back home voluntarily.

The issue here is that you work for the Mexican Consulate and there should be legal staff, if not they would contact the Mexican government on how to advise their citizen, that is what Consulates do, provide legal services for their citizens in the other nations
