Hormonal imbalance?
Good day!
I have this kind of hormonal imbalance,I have abnormality with my menstrual cycle since High school.
My last period was April 2011 and the remaining months is clueless to me so I decided to see a doctor.
She advised me to use provedra, and I am kind of scared because my stomach is aching the moment I take this med.
Please advice on this.
Thanks a lot.

If you are having any kind of side effects from a prescription medication (did you read the information that came with it), then you have to inform your doctor and they advise. We cant.

The drug is Provera, and WHY are you taking a drug you don't really need?
Just because you skip periods is not a sign that you should start taking something that gives you those side effects. Some women have every side effect there is, or you might have a condition unknown to your doctor that would be contraindicated.
Who told you you have a hormonal imbalance?

The proper name is Provera and is used for estrogen replacement (ERT) in postmenopausal women.

Apparently her doctor thinks she needs it.

Provera is not always used in postmenopausal women. Actually, it should not be prescribed to postmenopausal women.
Here is an excerpt...
Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life). Medroxyprogesterone is also used to prevent overgrowth of the lining of the uterus (womb) and may decrease the risk of cancer of the uterus in patients who are taking estrogen. Medroxyprogesterone is in a class of medications called progestins. It works by stopping the growth of the lining of the uterus and by causing the uterus to produce certain hormones.
You can find the information here... Medroxyprogesterone - PubMed Health

I did my research, that and then some. I read over 200 reports (short), some from women who had side effects so severe that they couldn't get out of bed. The overall rating in starts from those consumers was low. I am sorry that I feel that too many drugs are being thrown down our throats, but the increase in the rate of that is astronomical just in the last 10 years. If I had a 'hormonal imbalance' that wasn't causing me any distress, I'd leave it at that.

Remember that it may not be causing any outward distress that you notice, but many imbalances are silent and are wreaking much havoc without you even knowing. ;)
