    Fan switch hampton bay fan
Bought two replacement. Three speed 4 wire fan switchs I didn't see the original wire configuration when disconnecting. The wires are orange black purple and yellow I looked up wiring diagrams on line but once connected the fan only runs one speed and off high speed. I changed the switch twice and switched wires around several times. Bypassed switch and touched each wire tovthe black feed teac wire had a different speed so now I know it's the switch. Is there a special switch I need ? If so what and whete do I get it. And what is the correct configuration. L-1-2-3. Is on switch. Please help this is a side job and I look like I don't know what I'm doing to the customer on a small fan switch job.
