    Bankruptcy
    I have dual citizenship. I live in canada, have credit card debt in the states, if I file bankruptcy on this debt, can the credit card companies come to collect in canada

    Yes, there is no borderline when it comes to unpaid credit cards.

    If you file in bankruptcy the debts are discharged.

    Ok, I guess what I'm actually asking is this, if I file bankruptcy in the states, credit card debt, I have no assets in the states as I live here in canada where I have a job, own a home, etc. so when we file, in the states, do I have to lis tmy canadian assets or just the states stuff, which is nothing? Bottom line is, I want to eliminate the united states credit card debt as it will never get paid off in my lifetime but I really don't want the banks to come after my home here in canada

    When you file bankruptcy you have to list all assets no matter where they are at, and all debts, no matter where they are at.

    Your property and assets in Canada will be viewed to see if you qualify for bankruptcy according to the rules.
