Can you tell from the photo if I am having a boy or a girl?
    Hi all

I'm 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby.

We really want to know the gender of the baby before it's born, but our hospital has a policy in place that means they are not allowed to tell us what gender it is. We don't really want to have to pay for a private scan as they can be very expensive and we would rather spend the money on buying bits for the baby.

Just wondered if anyone on here would be able to tell, or guess if it's a boy or a girl from this picture?
I don't mind what gender it is either way but I'm dying to know now.

I'm not sure if it's even a picture of the genitals, but our sonographer handed us this picture with a smile on his face after we asked him what gender the baby was. Maybe he was trying to hint at something?

    Thanks

It's odd to me that they won't tell. Is that standard practice in the UK?

Sorry, but I'm no help. I can't tell what part of the baby I'm looking at!

The particular area I live in have a high population of ethnic minority people, so the hospital don't let parents know the gender because apparently ethnic minorities are more prone to having gender selective abortions

    Oh, my. That's a shame. :(

    Edit to add:
I hope someone can help with your sonogram. There are a few VERY experienced Doula's & RNs on this board. :)

Just a small guess... I think you are having a girl. I think I see a V-JJ!! Good Luck to you! Oh, and don't bet the farm on that... I just studied the pic a bit and that's what I have made of it. But, I am not a professional!!

There is no way to tell via the internet. There have been many times even the doctor was wrong when interpreting the ultrasound.

As a nurse, I've delivered many boys that were supposed to be girls and visa versa. It's best to prepare for either by buying gender neutral colors and/or having a baby shower AFTER the birth of the baby.

I agree with J. I've had many friends that were told they were having one gender, that the tech was 99.99% positive, only to have the opposite.

One lady went and painted the babies room bright pink, bought frilly little pink dresses, and dolls, and everything girlie. She had an 8 pound baby boy, and I'm sure he has issues because he wore dresses for the first year. ;) Kidding, she returned all the stuff and painted the nursery.

I really can't even tell what parts are what from that picture, so I won't even venture a guess. I will wish you luck though, and congrats. Come back and let us know what you have, you only have around 13 weeks to go, so you'll know soon. :)
