    Account/wage garnishments
I recently turned 18. Upon turning 18 I'd like to set up a bank account, but I'm not sure if an old realator can garnish money that my mom owes from about 4 years ago, please help, because I don't want to set up an account that someone can garnish from.

If your mom owes it doesn't affect you at all.

As long as your mom is not on your account and as long as your mom did not use your social security nuimber when borrowing the money to the people she owes.

So as long as she borrowed and owe the money under her name, and her social security number it should ot effect you at all.
