    My 1998 Honda civic ex has 132,000 and I am unsure if the timing belt has been changed since I bought it with about 87,000 miles on it?

    You need to change the timing belt, tensioner pulley, and water pump now. They should be changed every 90,000 miles or 6 years, whichever comes first.
