Honestly... no, not in my opinion.

My partner had had just about everything pierced at one point or another, he's taken them all out now and yes, they have left scars, especially his lip and eyebrow.

I would wait until you are 18, tastes change and you might decide it was a bad idea after all.
I wanted a tattoo so badly when I was 16, I had one picked out and everything. My mum wouldn't let me so I had to wait.
I did end up getting a tattoo, but not the one I chose when I was 16 (I got my first one at 21).
I know tattoos aren't the same as piercings but you have to be prepared to be left with a scar.

Then there is also the issue of gender.
If you are a girl then there are some not so nice stereotypes that come with those piercings (tongue in particular).
I'm not sure if you know the meaning behind a tongue piercing but trust me, you don't want that 'reputation'.

In short... wait until you are 18 and then decide. In some places they will not do piercings until you are 18 anyway (besides your ears and not without parental consent).

In some places it is illegal to pierce someone under 18 without parental permission.

The only reason for a tongue piercing is something a 14 yr old should not need.

Why are teens now a days rushing into all the body modifications? To look cool in front of friends or a "turn on" for men/women?
Common piercing fashions won't change. If you still want it when you're 18 then you get your Tongue pierced.

Also, what would your parents say about this because no respectable piercing establishment will pierce anyone under 18 (sometimes 16) without parental consent.

If an individual wants a piercing it should be for themselves and their own benefit and self esteem or what not, not to impress peers or to "fit in" (or in some cases, stand out).

It is not really suitable for anyone, see where it can help you get a job, or get respected by others.

Or even keep your teeth! These piercings are very damaging to the teeth!

I have a few piercings and tattoos myself, and I do not believe they are suitable for a child. Yes, at 14 you are a child.

So many people are rushing into piercings these days and do not even bother to care properly for them.

I want these piercing not for turning people on or because it's the latest trend and to impress my friends. I want them because it shows my personality through them and with them people will understand the true character I am. Many people think I'm a little kid and can't make my own choices. In truth I want them because I like being different to everyone else because the trends people have don't show there personality. That's why I want them.

Why do so many people agree with the rumors of tongue piercings..?
Many people I've talked with about the idea of getting my tongue pierced, why do they think that I'm getting it done to impress my Boyfriend and to make stuff more pleasurable..?
It's just not why I want them. I know my BF says he's not bothered if I get them or not. :(

    Hello R:

When I was 14, I wanted to show my personality too... I did it with my hair, and my clothes and the way I wore my pants.. Stuff like that...

But, then a few weeks later, I wanted to show a DIFFERENT side to my personality, so I STOPPED wearing my pants the way I did, and got NEW clothes...

I could DO that because the things I was doing weren't PERMANENT. Piercings are. Speaking as an adult, here's ONE thing I can promise you: Whatever you're into at 14 won't be the same when you're 21.

Your personality changes. Your personality at 14 won't be the same as it is at 21 or 31 etc.

And what do you really think a tongue piercing says about your personality? Nothing really good I can assure you. And you ARE a little kid and you CAN'T make all your own choices. Especially if this is an example of the choices you want to make.

There are many ways to express your individuality and personality without damaging your body.

And if you were being honest with yourself, you would acknowledge that body piercings are just a way of rebelling against society. In an earlier era, it was long hair. You are, in fact, following a trend.

You're only 14 and you shouldn't be doing anything to "pleasure" your boyfriend at that age either with a tongue piercing or without.

What else would you have to say about a 14 year old with a tongue piercing? People will always assume the worst, not just with piercings but with everything.

In your other post you expressed the piercing was to "show your personality".. the outside does not convey all of your personality, they're just aesthetics and can easily change or go out of fashion with the drop of a hat.

Why would you want to make that stereotype for yourself? Why can't you just wait until your older? The people you're trying to impress now probably won't remember who you are by the time they're in their 40s just as it is unlikely you'll remember them. If you wait until you're older (18+) then you can make your own decisions and your perceptions of things may have changed.

First, I've merged your two threads since the question bear on each other. Please don't start multiple threads over the same issue.

Second, to answer your question, its probably because they are NOT rumors. The only possible reason for a tongue piercing is to provide sexual pleasure for a partner. At 14 you shouldn't be concerned with that. End of story.

Lol, come on, no one is going to buy this. Know that you don't need a reason to do anything. If you want a tongue piercing, just get it.

And if you do get your tongue pierced and decide you don't like it, just take it out. You'll be left with a scar that you can barely see. Tattoos are another story.

When I was about 15 I dyed my hair all sorts of crazy colors to be different.
At one point I had streaks bleached all through my hair then dyed rainbow colors over them.

You don't have to poke holes in yourself to be different, hair colors are always fun, if you go for a job interview or when you go back to school after the holidays you can just dye it back to a normal color.
You can get spray on hair colors too and colored hair extensions.

I honestly believe it is not I went and got mine pierced behind my moms back at 17teen. When I returned to school Everone assumed I had gotten my tongue pierced to give oral sex which is no where near true. People think tongue rings= oral sex just like lower back tattoos= tramp stamp wich= slut, whore etc. I would not let my daughter get one and about 6months after I got mine I revoved it. IDK its up to the parents and there beliefs
