    Can the car dealership take a student loan?
    A car dealership is in the process of trying to collect a 10,000 debt, that I acquired from the mileage on a lease vehicle. I am in the process of trying to file a chapter 13, but that will not happen until September, and I want to know if the dealership can take the student loan I will receive in August.

    If it's payable directly to you, they sure can.

    Why can't you file the Chapter 13 now? Or file a Chapter 7 now and convert to 13 in August?
