Well you are not exactly dealing with a commodity. You are dealing with an intelligent life form that feels a lot the way we do. Your little dog, who got used to you, now is with someone that he is unfamiliar with and has just realized that he is not 'home'. You can't just keep on giving him back and forth like that. Either leave him where he is and let him adjust, and he will, or take him back with you and keep him.
Why did you give him away ?

Rehoming is very hard on the dog.
They have been part of the family for their whole life then suddenly they are taken away, they just don't understand.
The best thing you can do is to sever all contact with the dog.
Don't go visit it, don't see it.
That is the best and easiest way for the dog to get over you. If you keep visiting then the dog thinks it is being taken home and the cycle starts all over again.
The new family just needs to give the dog plenty of attention and treats, make it feel safe and secure and happy in its new home. If there is no health issues then it's just fretting and it will get over it eventually, but it does take time.
One of my dogs lived in another home for a year before we took him. It took him a good couple of MONTHS before he fully settled and realized we were his new family.

U are more to the dog then the dog is to you.
Please just ask them to keep bz with him.
Give him treats which he loves.
And walk him. Walking him around a new place will make him excited about the whole place.
