    Should I get two parakeets
    I am thinking about it because you go back to school soon should I because he is really depressed without another parakeet

    I would, I think they would feel better as well as yourself.
    2 aren't twice as much work.

    I'm not the bird person here, hopefully she will be by soon. But having had parakeets for quite some time I can say that mine have always seemed to be much happier if they have a cage mate. Just remember not to put them in the same cage immediately, they should be kept in separate cages side by side until they are more familiar with each other.

    I agree with Lady Sam. Two will be happier, but introduce them slowly. Not all birds get along just because they're the same breed. Also, diseases can be passed on.

    How old is your parakeet? Where are you planning on getting a second parakeet? What sex is your budgie, and what sex are you planning to get?
