Some sensor electronic devices were damaged after the thunderstorm and lightning strikes though they are plugged into a surge. All the nonsense electronic devices plugged into the same surge such as TV, DVD were not damaged. Only the sensor devices were damaged such as Wii console, Wireless home theater system and wireless weather forecaster. Can you explain why sensor or wireless electronic device is more easily damaged than the wired device from the thunderstorm lightning and how to effectively protect the wireless device from the thunderstorms and lightning strikes? There's not a whole lot you can do to protect from direct strikes. That's where your home-owner's insurance comes in.

I believe it's just a coincidence that your wireless devices were affected and others weren't. Surges and direct strikes are extremely unpredictable.

The grounding of the electrical service should be checked to be sure it is done properly and in good condition.

You can have a lightnining arrestor installed on the panel/service, and any sensitive electronis should be protected with surge protectors.

Personally I see hardwired more suceptiple to Lightning damage, they usually have a connection to ground. Lightning looks for ground.
In Lightning storms, you are safer using a cordless phone in the house than hardwired.
