Fbar amendment
I filed an FBAR before June 30, 2011.
Now I need to make a small amendment (add one more account with 1.5K dollars, 10 years old account which I did not know anything about).
Do I need to do that as well before June 30 2011 or can I do it within the next cpl of weeks.
Also - since that account closed in 2009 do I still need to file it (since I was a non resident alien in 2009)

The FBAR that you filed prior to 30 June 2011 was for Calendar Year 2010.
Hence, if the account was closed in 2009, you need NOT report the balance on that account.
FBAR is NOT required for any year when you were a non-resident alien for that year.

Thanks for the answer.
Sorry - One follow up.
1) I had already filed FBAR for 2009 calendar ( just wanted to be safe). In that case should I go update that FBAR or leave it as it is (since I was not supposed to file)
2) for amending the 2010 return - should I do it before June 30 or can do it later as well.
I am new to this so please pardon my ignorance

1) 2009 -- nothing to update, you can't take back a filed FBAR :)
2) 2010 -- Filing before June 30th is better, you should send the update today.

Form FBAR says that if one holds more than $10000 in a foreign bank account at any time during the year, one has to file the form.
