About akai 54 inch projection TV
Picture blurry and balooned out.. had it in shop. Paid 100 dollars. They wanted 634 dollars more to fix it. Way too much.. got it in 2005.. but hate to throw it out. They wrote the part numbers down that it needs BP91-01174A main cba and also 2 stk 392-110 ICs.. looked them up and the ics are just ten a piece and the other part around 100 dollars... My question is before the TV got bad and blurry... the color had changed.. it wasn't bright and vibrant color anymore.. colors were rather dull... the man who checked it out told me he would let me know what it would cost to make it work just like it did before it broke,, not that good.. and also how much to fix it so it worked like new again. I would guess the ics would not improve the color.. but would that other part make it like new again. ( OH the guy did not let me know) if those parts only make it work again.. and not good color.. then I will junk it... if it makes it new again.. I may TRY to get them.. and have them put in. Meanwhile its been sitting here over a year.. broken. Thanks

The main is what controls your input data, menus, tuner information, and such.

The type of picture problems you're having is likely the tubes (assuming it's a CRT). You're looking at way too much to fix it back to new.

You'll be able to purchase a new flat panel TV for a lot less. Plus, unless you have DVI or HDMI connections on that TV, a lot of cable/sat companies are disabling HD over component cables (and that's already happened with Blu-ray movies).
