    Cosigner Law?
My credit report lists me as a joint account holder on my daughter's Sallie Mae student loan. I did not co-sign this loan. Sallie Mae allowed my daughter to deceptively enter me on this loan as a co-signer without my knowledge or permission. Apparently my daughter applied for the loan electronically and was able to add me to it. I had never communicated with Sallie Mae by phone, computer, or any other method, nor did I discuss this loan request with my daughter. Sallie Mae should have a technique in place to prevent persons from being added to electronic loans without their authorization. Now when I call Sallie Mae I get the run around. How do I get my name off this loan with out hiring legal help?

You take a two pronged approach. You contact the credit bureau(s) reporting this and tell them you never agreed to co-sign this account telling them to remove the entry.

Then you have to go back to Sallie Mae and keep going through the bureaucracy to get them to remove you.

I agree with Scott as to first notify the credit reporting agency that this is in error, normally this is done in writing

To the lender, you send them in writing, with proof of delivery, a letter demanding to taken off any reporting, stating that you never signed or agreed to this loan, had no knowledge of this loan. Deny any debt and require them to provide you any evidence of this debt.

The issue is, I will assume that the loan is now going into default ? And they are looking at you to pay?

One added note, this may also require you or the lender to file fraud charges or at least you to report ID theft, that your daughter used your ID without your permission
