I was bitten on the hand by a cat about 36 hours ago. I went to the doctor last night to have it checked and they said it was infected. They did a culture and are waiting for the results but in the mean time put me on avelox. Unfortunately I do not have health insurance and this is a very expensive antibiotic. When I called them to see if they could change it they asked me to come back in. I am currently waiting for a nurse to call me back but if I have to go back I would like to have an idea of other antibiotics I could take that are affordable. I am allergic to penicillin, cefaclor, erythromycin, clindamycin, sulfa. If anyone has any ideas to help me please let me know. I am running out of time as the infection spreads further in my hand. I am very swollen and red and puss is coming out. I'm getting scared and don't know how much longer I can wait for the doctors office to call.
