Post a pic, and even then, can't guarantee a specified answer. Hard to judge an etching, painting, watercolor, whatever when seen on the net. I suggest you take it to a qualified dealer to have it accessed, but then, you will have to pay for the information. Sorry, can't do it here, we are all volunteers with other careers.

Thanks Tickle... so how do I "search" for a "qualified" dealer? How do I know who to trust?
Do we have a Canadian Art Association or something like that for qualified dealers?

I don't know if your etching is in color or not, but you might be able to get an idea of its average worth here.

It would help to have a picture, but tickle is right--ultimately, if you want a real appraisal, you will need to take it to a dealer. Even a qualified art expert can't very well tell what state your etching/reproduction is in just from a picture. Hope the link helps!

Thanks for the info. Yes, the painting is in color... the problem is who can I trust to make the appraisal?
I live in a very large city with many art galleries. I will however, post a picture either way... (when I figure out how... LOL)

    Ok!

Well, the page I gave you does has a link to appraisals (upper right side). The problem with appraisals--GOOD ones--is that they are not cheap, for one, and usually the appraiser will want to physically handle the item. There are a few online appraisers, but you would have to be cautious.

I would say that judging from (apparently) similar etchings by Lecomte, yours could be worth anywhere from $100 to $300 USD, depending on its condition; and it could cost you up to $150 to get it appraised, so you judge whether it's worth it or not.

Here is a site of appraisers in Canada: http://www.freemanart.ca/appraisals.htm

By the way, if you find either tickle's or my answers helpful, you are welcome to click the thumbs-up button :)
