    Hot Water Heater
When hooking up a new Sears Kenmore 50 gallon electric hot water heater, the hot water line from the oil burner was piped into the cold water inlet and the cold water line was piped into the hot water outlet... after running the system for a few hours, and then realizing we were'nt getting any hot water, we shut the system off and will have the lines corrected. My question is did we damage the hot water heater or its internal elements in any way by doing this?? Thanks Michael.

I can't imagine how this could, or would, have harmed the water heater (as long as the power was not turned on while it was empty).

I live in an 8-year old townhouse and have an A.O Smith 50 gallon hot water heater the same age. The plumber told me it needs to be replaced (does this sound like a reasonable time frame for that?) and mentioned something about a wags valve. Is this something I should have installed or is it...
