    Pain at 37 weeks
    I'm having bad pains in the top and lower part of my stomach, I'm also feeling tons of pressure in the lower part of my stomach and around in my pelvic area, is it okay to have your labor induced at 37 weeks because this pain is completely awful and I'm thinking about literally begging my doctor to induce me next week which is when I'll be 37 weeks?

    I'm sorry if you misunderstood, but there are no OB/GYN's who are members of this site. I am, however, a labor and delivery nurse. {Mod Note: Thread title changed-<>}

    If you were a patient who called me up at my hospital I would first ask you how many times you have been pregnant? How many children do you have?

    Then I would suggest that you come to the hospital to be seen to see if you are or are not having contractions and whether you are dilated.

    I'm sorry to say, but this is the end of your pregancy, and it is miserable for most women.

    Most hospitals will not induce at 37 weeks, most require a women to be 38 or 39 weeks before they will allow an induction. It's not up to the doctor, it's up to the hospital's policies and procedures.

    Make sure you are drinking enough water, NOT chewing ice. If you live in an area where it is very hot right now, pregnant women tend to dehydrate easily. 8-12 8 ounce glasses of water is recommended. Also you can try to take some Tylenol, it is approved in your third trimester. Warm soaks in a bath, as long as your water hasn't broken, are okay too.

    Good luck to you.
