    Babies
A few days ago I had a dream, that I was in the hospital and I had given birth to a baby girl and her name was vivid, she was beautiful. Two nights after I dreamed I had two kids a boy and a girl both looked like they were 4 to 5 years old. And I was protecting them from someone whom was trying to hurt them. I threaten him and told him to stay away from my kids. I did not love anything more than my kids. And I would do anything to protect them. But I don't have any kids and I'm not pregnant so what does this dream mean.

Sometimes when we dream of a child or children we are actually dreaming of the child within ourselves, i.e. some vulnerable part of us. Trying to protect a child in a dream is often related to a feeling of needing to protect some part of ourself.

Have a think about whether anything is making you feel a little threatened or vulnerable in life and see if that makes sense.

Sigmund would have said that too.

The brain seems to run symbolic simulations of what we are encountering in our lives, what we want to encounter, and what we are afraid to encounter.
In a very general sense most dreams will fit into one of those niches.

There are some who theorize it is the brains way of "practicing" reactions to situations we may face.

It is the symbolism the brain uses that is hard to understand but as QLP showed in a vulgar display of adeptness , some have the insight to do it.

I think that most dreams have no specific meaning but may still be the brain "exercising".

A very good explanation. Indeed many dreams don't seem to mean anything in particular, and may be just the brain exercising, or re-filing the information it has received recently. Other dreams will be driven by bodily function or sensation, such as dreaming of food if we went to bed hungry.

If someone has repeated dreams or ones that bother them enough to ask what they mean I often take this is a cue to suggest thinking about something that may be impacting enough on us to stick in our subconscious, but if that yields nothing then dreams can happily be ignored.
