Does your like it ? I mean my little Lightening, ( just lost him after a little over two years) loved to be petted and loved to be held. If you put him in his ball, he would roll over to set by you.

My other one, would rather bite you than be petted.

    Im pretty sure it cant.
When I had a hamster I literally never ever put it down!
It never died because of that it died from it sneeking out of its cage because it wanted attetion.
So I don't recommend it but it won't hurt it.

It won't physically hurt your hamster (unless you're squeezing too hard, or doing dangerous things while holding him), but, if the hamster doesn't enjoy being held, it can mentally harm your hamster.

It would be the same as someone holding you if you don't like it.

Only you can determine whether your hamster likes being held.
