I need to do a project for school, and it is to interview or ask a psychiatrist a few questions...
The questions are :
1. Is Hypnotherapy used in Psychiatric treatment?
2.What made you decide to become a psychiatrist?
3.What is a psychiatrist’s typical daily work?
4.What is the communication between a patient's psychiatrist and therapist?

You don't need to answer all of the question, even one answer is appreciated.Thank you.

I'm probably the only member, or one of the only members, of this site who is anywhere near qualified to answer this. I'm not a psychiatrist, but am a professional psychotherapist.

1. Hypnotherapy can be used in psychiatric treatment, but most psychiatrists do not use it and prefer instead "talk therapy" (perhaps) and psychopharmacology.

2. As I said, I am not a psychiatrist, do not have an M.D. but what led me to this field was the desire to help people overcome problems in their lives.

3. The daily schedule can vary. Most sessions are 50 minutes long. There has to be other time set aside to compile case notes, complete insurance forms, and keep up with professional literature. Some psychiatrists work alone or in a group practice during the early and middle part of the day; others have office hours during the afternoon and evenings and maybe weekends, to accommodate working patients. Some psychiatrists work in clinical settings, i.e. at county, private, and VA hospitals, at nursing homes, or at mental health facilities.

4. It depends on the psychiatrist's training and preferences. He could be client-centered, Freudian, may use RET, CBT, hypnotism, ECT, or other modalities. Nearly all will suggest medication of some sort.
