    Wiring an Outbuilding Shutoff Switch
Since it is so far from the subpanel breaker, my building inspector wants me to install a shutoff switch that will turn off the entire barn. Do I still just tie the white wires together? Many thanks for your help!

Is this a single circuit? The neutral isn't supposed to be broken, just the hot leg(s).

Just for reference, it has nothing to do with the distance. It has to do with the fact that a detached structure such as this that has a sub-panel requires some form of service disconnect.

Does the barn have it's own panel? I didn't read it that way. I read it as if the barn was on a circuit(s) in a subpanel... not located in the barn. "so far from the sub-panel breaker" Did I mis-understand?
